Jeff Barnaby’s “File Under Miscellaneous” and other shorts playing at the TIFF Bell Lightbox August 3rd!

02 Aug '12

A Mi’gmaq filmmaker from Quebec, Jeff Barnaby is one of the most promising new voices in First Peoples cinema. Drawing on elements of science fiction and horror and such cinematic touchstones as David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch and Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, Barnaby refracts some of the perennial themes of First Peoples cinema through a darkly distorting lens, creating intriguingly dystopic visions of the post-colonial present and future. As this multi-disciplinary artist prepares his first feature, we explore his unique vision in these five acclaimed short films.Jeff Barnaby will be showing several of his short films at the TIFF Bell Lightbox this Friday August 3rd. The shorts will include:

File Under Miscellaneous
The Colony
From Cherry English
Red Right Hand
Black out

All films will show at 9:00 and you can see further details on the TIFF website at:
